Action against unlicensed Haj contractors
Sept. 8: The Public Prosecution in collaboration with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs began interrogating owners of fake and unlicensed Haj contractors for this year.
The Public Prosecution found that the medical forms distributed by these contractors to Haj applicants for this year were incorrect and were not issued by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs. Accordingly the Public Prosecution took legal action against them to ensure smooth conduct of Haj.
The Public Prosecution called upon those interested in performing Haj this year to log on to the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs website to find the names of the licensed Haj contractors.
A senior official from the ministry has confirmed the probe and further added that all those who have been selected for this year’s Haj pilgrimage should abide by the rules and regulations set by the ministry, while making sure that they are not duped by unscrupulous contractors with forged documents.
“We, along with the Public Prosecution, are in the process of identifying the depth of such a forgery and the culprits will face legal consequences. All those who have been selected to perform this year’s holy Haj should make sure that they submit original documents and abide by the rules and regulations set by the ministry for smooth pilgrimage.”
