Youth awards to focus on scientific innovation
MUSCAT: Al Roya Press and Publishing yesterday launched the 3rd edition of “Al Roya Youth Initiative Awards”.
The awards aim to attract outstanding young people in various scientific fields, renew the spirit of creativity and innovation in them, in order to achieve their active participation in the march of comprehensive development in different levels and areas under the auspices of Rashad bin Ahmed al Hinai, UnderSecretary of the Ministry of Sports Affairs.
Hatim bin Hamad al Taie, Editor-inChief, of Al Roya newspaper in his speech said the “awards is the culmination of the success of the awards in the previous two sessions, explaining that the awards this year focus on the areas of scientific innovation, particularly renewable energy, through a number of workshops for young people in this aspect.
The opening ceremony included an introductory documentary about the march of Al Roya Youth Initiative Awards, in addition to a video clip about Occidental Oman, the main sponsor.
Mohammed al Lawati, Director of Human Resources Department, and Fayza al Kalbani, Director of Economic Section, Al Roya newspaper showed a presentation in which he explained that the 3rd edition has 8 areas to compete in, with three awards for each area, for a total of 24 awards.
The areas of the award includes scientific innovation that includes electronics, renewable energy, robots, with all design details for implementation; the field of culture and literature, including drama and the field of arts.
The award will be given this year for the best three short films, along with the best media project which includes media initiative that serves the community or meaningful electronic initiative, as well as the best electronic project, in addition to the volunteer work which is awarded this year for the best three initiatives or projects contributed to community service or directly on the level of awareness and education, which does not include the charity works. — ONA
