Omani students take part in cultural fiesta at Queensland
Members presented the rich and fascinating culture of Omani handicrafts and cuisine
May 7: Omani Society of the state of Queensland in Australia took a part in the cultural fiesta held at the University of Queensland in Brisbane on May 3.
The cultural festival was conducted at the University to exhibit various beautiful cultures of the international students studying in Queensland.
The cultural fiesta union has mainly carried a rich cuisine of multicultural food, dance performances, games and various exciting activities where the students, academics, staff and guests of the University of Queensland enjoyed the displayed appetizers and snacks, besides the enjoyable lively dance performances and various other activities.
The members of Omani Society in Queensland presented the rich fascinating culture of Oman through the displayed Omani handicrafts like handmade castles, potteries and boats besides Omani jewelleries and attires.
Photos of Omani famous tourism destinations and traditional dishes were part of the cultural fiesta.
The unique traditions of Oman were explained to all who passed by the attractive section of Omani Society in Queensland.
The Omani Society displayed some deliciously distinctive dishes in the cultural fiesta for sale that are namely, ‘a Mahalabia’, also known as Mahalabi, which is a dessert of boiled milk, little sweetened and flavoured with rose or orange water.
Also, Lokma, that is pastries made of deep fried dough soaked in syrup, chocolate sauce, or honey, with cinnamon.
Additionally, Samosa, it is a triangular savoury pastry fried in ghee or oil, containing spiced vegetables or meat. On the top of that Katchori, it is a spicy snack popular in India, Pakistan, gulf countries and other parts of Asia.
And Omani tasty dates and Coffee were present in the cultural festival at the University of Queensland as well.
