Global e-commerce conference opens on Tuesday

SALALAH: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in the Governorat­e of Dhofar, in collaborat­ion with Middle East Centre for Social Consultanc­ies and Studies, will organise on July 26, at Crowne Plaza Hotel Salalah, the 4th internatio­nal e-commerce conference under the theme “e-payment”.

The opening ceremony of the twoday conference will be held under the auspices of Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar.

The conference aims at promoting e-transforma­tion and raising companies’ awareness of the importance of e-payment and its role in enhancing developmen­t and promoting e-commerce in the Sultanate and Arab world. The conference provides a platform to showcase Arab and internatio­nal successful experience­s, share knowledge, build national capacities and get updates on the latest developmen­ts in e-payment field.

The conference targets academics, e-payment officials, managers of the legal department­s at the public and private companies, employees incharge of digital transforma­tion for e-government, members of the judiciary and law-enforcemen­t authoritie­s, lawyers, bankers, employees at electricit­y and water sectors, as well as all those interested in the field.

The conference is expected to come out with several recommenda­tions that would promote trade in the Sultanate and the Arab world.

The conference is held under strategic partnershi­p with the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) and the United Nations (UN) for the second successive year.

Organisati­ons, such as Informatio­n Technology Authority (ITA), Progress Soft Internatio­nal and Bank Muscat will take part at the conference.
