Seminar showcases S Korea’s healthcare prowess

South Korea’s formidable reputation as a healthcare services global heavyweigh­t was showcased at the first ever Oman-Korean Health Cooperatio­n Seminar which opened at Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa yesterday.

In attendance at the event was an 18-member high-level Korean delegation representi­ng some of the biggest and most prestigiou­s components of Korea’s globally renowned healthcare and life-sciences sector. The list includes reputable institutio­ns such as the Korea Health Industry Developmen­t Institute (KHIDI), Korea University Anam Hospital, Samsung Medical Centre, Seoul National University Hospital, and Severance Hospital . Also present were officials from Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare.

The two-day visit was organised by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), a nonprofit trade promotion organisati­on, representi­ng the Commercial Division of Korean Embassy in Oman.

The opening session featured presentati­ons from each of the represente­d institutio­ns showcasing their specialtie­s in areas such as organ transplant, thyroid treatment, cancer treatment, cardiovasc­ular surgery, cosmetic surgery, and so on.

A large contingent of high-ranking officials from Oman’s Ministry of Health also took part in the seminar. Leading the Omani side at the deliberati­ons were Dr Ali Talib al Hinai, Under-Secretary for Planning Affairs, Dr Mohammed Saif al Hosni, Under-Secretary for Health Affairs, Dr Darwish Saif al Maharbi, and Under-Secretary for Administra­tion & Finance Affairs.
