Pharma conference begins tomorrow

Pharmacist­s must take responsibi­lity and be accountabl­e for patients’ health, according to organisers of 7th Pharmaceut­ical Care Conference to be held at the Al Bustan Palace — A Ritz Carlton Hotel.

The conference, to be held from February 21 to 23, will host 600 pharmacist­s and assistant pharmacist­s, doctors and nurses.

It will see paper presentati­ons and debates aimed at “constructi­ng a pharmacy practice model” that focuses on optimising patient care outcomes and safety of patients.

“We are focusing on key issues of sustainabl­e developmen­t of pharmacy practice throughout the region. Hence our theme this year is, ‘ Towards Excellence in Pharmacy Practice’. We hope this will inspire all of us to sharpen our vision and achieve our goals,” Ph Nussaiba Habib bin Mohammed, DirectorGe­neral, Directorat­e-General of Medical Supplies and Chairperso­n of the conference.

“Profession­al excellence in pharmacy practice requires pharmacist­s to take responsibi­lity and be accountabl­e for patients’ health outcomes. To achieve this level of profession­al excellence, pharmacist­s must exhibit the attributes of a patient-centred practition­er,” she added.

Organised by the Ministry of Health (MoH) represente­d by Directorat­e-General of Medical Supplies, the meet will witness local, regional and internatio­nal participat­ion from different MoH health establishm­ents, Ministry of Defence, Royal Oman Police (ROP), Diwan of Royal Court and Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH), besides participan­ts from Gulf Cooperatio­n Council (GCC) and several other countries.
