Pakistan ambassador holds talks with OCCI, OFIC officials

MUSCAT: Ali Javed, the Ambassador of Pakistan has recently visited headquarters of Oman Food Investment Company (OFIC) and Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OCCI) and held discussions on widening the scope of bilateral cooperation with Saleh Shanfari, Chairman OFIC and Ayman Ali Hasani, Vice-Chairman OCCI respectively.

Welcoming the Ambassador to their respective premises, comprehensive briefings were accorded by Chairman OFIC and Vice-Chairman OCCI with latter conveying greetings from Chairman OCCI, on a visit abroad at the time.

At OFIC, Shanfari praised the contributions by Pakistani nationals in building Oman and appreciated the positive role of Pakistani-Omanis, calling them a ‘bridge of friendship’ between two nations. He expressed satisfaction over the import of basmati rice, fresh meat, and fruits from Pakistan and exchanged ideas on boosting cooperation in Food Security Sector.

At OCCI, the Vice-Chairman expressing satisfaction at the depth & dimension of bilateral relations, briefed the Ambassador on the status of Oman-Pakistan Joint Business Council (JBC) and exchanged ideas on promoting trade ties via exchanges of business delegations, trade exhibitions and investment seminars.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to both dignitaries for their support and understanding of the historical links between the two sides. He expressed appreciation over the sentiments of kinship and affinity for Pakistanis in Oman. Ambassador highlighted that the 261,000 plus Pakistanis were direct beneficiaries of sagacious leadership of His Majesty reflected through the peaceful, prosperous and hospitable Omani society.

Ambassador gave briefings on the entire spectrum and trajectory of bilateral relations, community activities and recent high level political and parliamentary exchanges. He presented copies of ‘Pakistan Embassy Newsletter - Special Edition’ showcasing a series of event and festivities organised by Pakistani community to mark 46th National Day of Oman across the Sultanate.

Both interactions lasted over one hour respectively. Shanfari also heads the Food Security Committee at OCCI while OCCI and Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) signed an MoU on establishing Joint Business Council in Muscat on November 16, 2015.
