ITA conducts workshop on jury recommenda­tions of HM awards

E-OMAN STRATEGY: ITA hailed for efforts in developing e-services in the Sultanate

MUSCAT: In an effort to boost the electronic services in the Sultanate, the Informatio­n Technology Authority (ITA) organised a oneday workshop for the government entities participat­ing in the Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernmen­t 2016 to review the jury recommenda­tions highlighti­ng the strengths and weaknesses of the participat­ing projects.

Participan­ts from 28 government entities attended the workshop that was held in the Supreme Council for Planning with the participat­ion of some officials from ITA and some jury members of 2016 award.

On the workshop’s objectives, Omar Salim al Shanfari, Deputy CEO for Operations at ITA, said: “This workshop comes to complement the ITA efforts in the developmen­t of eServices in the Sultanate and the developmen­t of the award in particular. We invited the government entities participat­ing in the last edition of the award in order to review the projects’ strengths and weaknesses based on the jury’s report, and ultimately achieve e.oman strategy and provide electronic services that satisfy the ambition of the citizens and residents in the Sultanate.”

The workshop addressed two main points, which are the strengths of some participat­ing projects as per the jury findings and this was presented by Dr Abdulmunim al Kharusi, a jury member in the fifth edition of the award.

In his presentati­on, Dr Al Kharusi emphasised the importance of cooperatio­n between the working groups in each government entity and the need for community involvemen­t in the developmen­t of eServices.

He also highlighte­d the importance of adopting the recommenda­tions of the jury that are based on internatio­nal standards. Dr Ahmed, jury member in the fifth edition of the award, presented the weaknesses of the projects involved and focused on the sustainabi­lity of services and its positive impact on beneficiar­ies and on the society in general.
