ISWK marks sixth Science Festival

MUSCAT: Indian School Wadi Kabir (ISWK) recently celebrated sixth Science Festival in the school’s multipurpo­se hall.

The Department of Science organised an Inter-House model making competitio­n and Treasure Hunt — a unique science game which was followed by a rapid — fire quiz that added challengin­g tasks to the participan­ts.

Romea Shine and Deepak Keshari from Indian School Muscat, Ranjana Viduransi from SriLankan School Muscat and Hala Jamal, Managing Director at Habib Salem Electrical­s, a popular quiz master at Muscat Codex and an ex-student of ISWK, were the evaluators of the competitio­ns.

The students performed an action song on the theme “Socho Jara Socho...” a concern for global warming and to protect the mother earth — a beginning to plant a tree, a beginning to plant a Hope, which overwhelme­d the audience. The importance of water in the form of a Science mime, indeed, a great effort put in by the students of ISWK and was highly appreciate­d.

Harshendu Shah and Jenifer Robinson, head of the Department of Science, launched the first of its kind in Oman, COSMOS — a Science Emagazine, comprising of science news, crosswords, articles, activities, puzzles, health and environmen­t tips, career guidance.

Robinson also expressed that this magazine would serve as a platform for the students to follow their dreams with perseveran­ce and self confidence.

President, Vice-Principal, judges and HoDs, presented young scientist awards, trophies, certificat­es to the winners and participan­ts, evoking a cheering atmosphere at the end.

Harshendu Shah, the Honorary President of the School Management Committee, Vice-Principal Jayaprakas­h Pillai, HoDs, teachers, and students were present to witness the grand event.
