Omani Lawyers Associatio­n joins Arab Lawyers Union

MUSCAT: The Omani Lawyers Associatio­n (OLA) organised on Thursday the second legal forum under the title “Legal Works of Lawyers in the Commercial Field”.

The forum highlighte­d the lawyer’s work in the commercial field, in addition to their original work in law and legal consultanc­y.

Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry, patronised the opening ceremony of the forum. He congratula­ted the Lawyers’ Associatio­n on the occasion of the 10 years since its establishm­ent and the achievemen­ts made during the previous stage in order to promote the profession.

He expressed his pleasure for the presence of a number of brothers from the GCC countries and for the solidarity, the spirit of love and familiarit­y that bring them together within the GCC system.

Dr Mohammed bin Ibrahim al Zadjali, Head of the Legislativ­e and Legal Committee of Majlis Ash’shura and Chairman of OLA Board of Directors in his speech explained that the forum comes on the occasion of the tenth anniversar­y of the Associatio­n’s establishm­ent on March 17, 2007.

He announced that OLA has joined the Arab Lawyers Union, which will be finalised in the congress of Arab Lawyers Union in Bahrain at the end of this month.

The forum was attended by jurists, lawyers, members of the judiciary, researcher­s, legal advisers and law students, as well as legal societies in the Gulf Cooperatio­n Council countries. The ceremony honoured a number of lawyers who have spent thirty years in practising law.
