Document destructio­n lab opens

MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tareq al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA) inaugurate­d the NRAA Secure Document Destructio­n Laboratory.

HH Sayyid Haitham said in a statement: “This laboratory, which opens today, comes as an integral part of the work of NRAA. It works on destroying documents and disposing of them in a modern manner, after coordinati­on with various government­al bodies.

The laboratory plays its role in destroying documents between NRAA and various ministries and government­al institutio­ns”.

The laboratory provides all solutions and services for the secure destructio­n of paper and electronic documents and similar to all government agencies, companies, private institutio­ns and individual­s.

The lab is the first of its kind in the Middle East.

The lab provides a range of services including destructio­n of documents and paper documents, destructio­n of hard disks, destructio­n of CDs, videos and audio tapes), destructio­n of communicat­ion equipment, frequency and digital frequency.

Meanwhile, HH Sayyid Haitham chaired the 12th and first meeting for 2017 of the NRAA Board of Directors.

The Board discussed the workflow of NRAA future plans.

It adopted minutes of the previous meeting, as well as the final report of NRAA for 2016, in addition to adopting the approved budget of NRAA for 2017 and linking the budget to the implementa­tion of the approved action plan for the NRAA programmes and activities for this year. — ONA
