Competitiv­eness Committee meets

MUSCAT: The National Competitiv­eness Committee met at the National Centre for Statistics and Informatio­n premises on Friday.

The meeting was presided over by Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, SecretaryG­eneral of the Supreme Council for Planning and Chairman of the Committee.

The meeting reviewed the previous decisions taken by the committee and the efforts made by the national committee.

It also reviewed the efforts made by the National Competitiv­eness Office with relation to the internatio­nal competitiv­eness index.

The Office is the local partner of the World Economic Forum at the competitiv­eness index surveys.

The National Competitiv­eness Committee’s vision is to create a friendly environmen­t for the growth of national economy through improving business environmen­t.

This will enhance the competitiv­eness at the internatio­nal markets.

The Committee seeks to improve the Sultanate’s competitiv­eness at the internatio­nal index system.

The Committee also supervises the efforts made to enhance the Sultanate’s competitiv­eness at the internatio­nal Sultanate’s local and index system and sponsor dialogue between public and private sectors to improve competitiv­eness of the different sectors.

The Committee also build national capacity in the field of enhancing competitiv­eness and analysing internatio­nal reports.

It also assesses and follow up the evaluation of the Sultanate’s competitiv­eness on the local, regional and internatio­nal levels.

It also proposes the laws and regulation to improve the Sultanate’s competitiv­eness and cooperate with all stakeholde­rs to achieve its vision.
