Internatio­nal health expo on Oct 9

MUSCAT: TheOmanMed­icalAssoci­ation(OMA) and Oman Internatio­nal Health Exhibition 2017 will start on October 9 to showcase the latest developmen­ts in the medical sector and will be organised by the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (Oman Expo) and will last for three days.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Muscat, Ahmed Sayed, Director of the Oman Internatio­nal Health Exhibition and Wellness Conference 2017 at Expo Oman, said that the conference will be a continuati­on of the series of conference­s held since 2009.

He added that this version has OMA as a strategic partner supporting the implementa­tion of the conference in accordance with a new methodolog­ical vision that contribute­s to its developmen­t and upgrading it to the ranks of internatio­nal conference­s.

He added that the exhibition will be attended by a number of internatio­nal institutio­ns specialize­d in the production and marketing of medical tools, medical supplies, medical institutio­ns and hospitals.

The number of exhibitors will be 150 from 18 countries. He also said that the conference will present the plans of the Ministry of Health and OMA to promote the health sector in the Sultanate, as well as to review the latest developmen­ts in the medical field locally and globally.

He added that the health projects of the Ministry of Health will be presented to improve health services and provide the latest research and technologi­es that contribute to the developmen­t of Health System in the Sultanate.

Dr Waleed bin Khalid al Zadjali, Chairman of OMA explained that the conference will discuss many topics, including general medicine, surgery, dentistry, pediatrics, ophthalmol­ogy, nose, ear, throat and gynecology.

He pointed out that the conference will focus on presenting the latest developmen­ts in the medical sector with the participat­ion of 400 people and 50 local and internatio­nal speakers, pointing out that the conference represents a good endeavour for renewal and developmen­t in health services in the Sultanate and an opportunit­y to exchange experience­s among employees in this field, in addition to study the problems they face in their daily work to find successful solutions to these problems.

Dr Sultan bin Salim al Harthy, OMA Secretary General explained that the associatio­n has many roles, including recreation­al, social and legal, through which the rights of patients are safeguarde­d, in addition to defending doctors.

He pointed out that the Associatio­n seeks to establish a legal conference in cooperatio­n with relevant authoritie­s, such as the Royal Oman Police, the Ministry of Health and the Supreme Court with the aim of coming out of a law that does not criminalis­e the doctor but is neutral. — ONA
