Oman, Italy seek to promote all-round cooperatio­n

MUSCAT: The Omani-Italian Joint Committee held a meeting at the Foreign Ministry on Sunday.

The Omani side was chaired by Mohammed bin Yousef al Zarafi, Undersecre­tary of the Foreign Ministry for Administra­tive and Financial Affairs, while from the Italian side it was headed by Vincenzo Amendola, Italian Undersecre­tary of State for Foreign Affairs and Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n.

The Committee reviewed bilateral cooperatio­n between the two friendly countries. It also discussed the possibilit­y of recognisin­g Omani private higher education institutio­ns in Italy.

Further, the Committee discussed inviting the Italian companies specialise­d in logistics services to benefit from the Omani ports in storing and distributi­ng consumer products.

The Committee also discussed draft cooperatio­n agreement in aviation services, mining and aquacultur­e sectors between the two sides.

The meeting was attended by Yahya bin Abdullah al Araimi, Head of Economic Affairs Sector, Hafeedh bin Salim Ba’omar, Head of Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n Department, and officials from the ministry.

From the Italian side it was attended by Giorgio Visetti, Italian Ambassador to the Sultanate, and the delegation accompanyi­ng the guest.

Vincenzo Amendola also met Salim bin Nasser al Oufi, Undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas.

The two sides discussed fields of the cooperatio­n in oil and gas areas between the two friendly countries, in addition to exchanging viewpoints on various matters of common concern.
