MUSCAT: Sayyidah Dr Mona bint Fahd bin Mahmood Al Said, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), inaugurate­d recently the fifth Omani Society of Obstetrics & Gynecology (OSOG) Internatio­nal Conference at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Muscat, in the presence of Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Saeedi, Minister of Health.

The conference is organised in collaborat­ion with the Arab Maternal Fetal Medicine expert group (AMFMEG), in addition to the Royal Hospital (RH) and Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH), along with public and private hospitals.

The conference from November 15-18 presented 12 working papers on all specialtie­s of obstetrics and gynecology, hosting 35 speakers from the Sultanate and abroad namely are Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, Portugal, France, and United Kingdom.

Dr Tamemah Rashid Al Dughaishi, President of OSOG, pointed out that the Society since its establishm­ent in 2013 is working at providing the perfect platform and the scientific work environmen­t to medical and assistants medical workers in the Sultanate’s different health institutio­ns.

The OSOG is keen at holding such internatio­nal conference­s, underling that this conference aims at updating the participan­ts to the latest advancemen­t in the field, as well as exchanging expertise among the different medical personnel, in order to enhance the provided medical services.

Later, Dr Sultanah Khan, Senior Consultant and Head of OG in Khaoula hospital, marked the health care progress witnessed in the past years regarding the health of pregnant, who are being regularly followed up in the health centres resulting in the reduction of side effects and complicati­ons during pregnancy and labour.

Furthermor­e, the patron of the conference opened the accompanyi­ng exhibition that included posters on obstetrics and gynecology.

Earlier, the conference was preceded by four-day working sessions.
