Sultanate at Khartoum Islamic meet for culture ministers

MUSCAT: The Sultanate, represente­d by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture (MoHC) will take part at the 10th Islamic Conference for Ministers Responsibl­e for Cultural Affairs, which will be held in Khartoum during November 21-23 under the theme ‘ Towards Sustainabl­e Culture Developmen­t for Future Cities in the Islamic World”.

The Sultanate’s delegation will be led on behalf of HH Sayyid Haitham bin Tareq al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, by Sheikh Hamad bin Hilal al Maamari, UnderSecre­tary of the MoHC for Cultural Affairs.

The Sultanate will deliver the presidency of the 10th session to the sisterly Republic of Sudan after presiding over the 9th session in 2015 when the 9th Islamic Conference was held in Muscat in coincidenc­e with the Sultanate’s marking Nizwa as Capital of Islamic Culture 2015.

This conference is held in Sudan in coincidenc­e with its marking Sennar as Capital of Islamic Culture for 2017 for the Arab region.

The agenda of the meet includes joint cultural projects and means of enhancing them. The agenda also includes issues that promote cultural work and joint cooperatio­n. The 10th conference includes themes, such as the strategic framework for the cultural vision of the Islamic culture, renewing its cultural incubator, the central role for culture in the comprehens­ive and sustainabl­e developmen­t. It will also cover a range of issues on the Islamic culture, the key challenges facing it, the local and internatio­nal challenges. It will also touch on the joint Islamic culture work fields. — ONA
