Nizwa CAS stages traditiona­l art forms at National Day fete

Nizwa Faculty of Applied Sciences (CAS), represente­d by the Fine Arts Group, organised an event to commemorat­e the 47th National Day at Nizwa Grand Mall on Sunday.

Academic staff members, academic and administra­tive support, and students attended the event.

The ceremony included a number of activities which began with a poem recited by Ali bin Mohammed al Toobi expressing his love for the homeland and his pride in belonging to Oman.

It was followed by a song, ‘love of the homeland’, by Laith al Sariri and Ahmed al Buraiki. Hamoud al Rawahi and Maher al Ameri, poets from the Poetry Council of Izki, recited some poems.

Al Asalah, a folk art band, showcased the Al Razha Art, and some traditiona­l arts.

The event also included a corner for children expressing their love for the homeland, drawing on the faces of children, as well as a corner for painting and photograph­y, which included landscape painting and Omani heritage.

A drawing and photograph­y exhibition was also held.

The celebratio­n, an interactiv­e event, attracted a large audience. On the occasion, Bushra al Abri, a student and head of Fine Arts Group, thanked all those who contribute­d for the success of this event, including poets, organisers and supporters.
