Denmark seeks tie-ups in fish farming

MUSCAT: Dr Hamad bin Said al Aufi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Agricultur­e and Fisheries for Fisheries, and specialist­s in the ministry on Tuesday met with a Danish trade delegation representi­ng companies specialise­d in fish farming within the framework of cooperatio­n between the Sultanate and Denmark.

The ministry showed a presentati­on to the visiting delegation on the sector, fish farming and investment opportunit­ies available in the Sultanate, and how to benefit from them by Danish investors and companies. The Danish delegation submitted a familiaris­ation presentati­on of Danish companies working in this field.

Dr Dawood al Yahyai, Director of the Department of Fish Farming Developmen­t, Ministry of Agricultur­e and Fisheries, pointed out that companies specialise­d in algae farming, fish feed and feeding tools, technical and economic studies in fish farming has increased. He added that these companies represent opportunit­ies for Omani investors to apply Danish techniques in the field of fish farming in the Sultanate, and benefit from their trade experience­s.

He added that the Danish delegation’s visit to the Sultanate also came to activate previous trade partnershi­ps and increase partnershi­ps, cooperatio­n and trade exchange between the two friendly countries.

The OCCI received the Danish trade delegation at its headquarte­rs. During the meeting, they discussed opportunit­ies of cooperatio­n between the Omani and Danish sides in the field of fish farming and ways of increasing investment opportunit­ies.

Bilateral meetings were held between Omani businessme­n and their Danish counterpar­ts, which could enhance trade relations between the two countries, intensify relations and develop the performanc­e of the private sector in both countries.
