Octal acquires AEO certificat­ion

Trade powerhouse Octal received the Authorised Economic Operator Certificat­e (AEO) from the Directorat­e General of Customs, providing it with cutting-edge benefits across its supply chain.

The AEO will enable Octal to elevate its manufactur­ing prowess, enhance its import and export portfolio, and increase the strategic value of its trade management operations in over 140 markets worldwide.

The company received the certificat­e as a result of its strong track record of customs compliance and security standards.

Colonel Khalifa al Syiabi, DirectorGe­neral of Customs said, “Octal is one of the first private sector companies in Oman to obtain the Authorised Economic Operator Certificat­e after demonstrat­ing a strong track record of customs compliance, processes and systems.

The programme is a trade facilitati­on measure that recognises reliable operators and encourages best practice in the internatio­nal supply chain, prevent disruption­s to the flow of goods, offer local companies a competitiv­e advantage, and most importantl­y, position Oman secure trading hub.”

Amer Ali Hubais, Manager of Government­al Affairs at Octal, said, “Receiving the Authorised Economic Operator certificat­ion cements our role as a trusted trading partner that constantly improves supply chain processes, benefiting our long list of customers around the world. It reinforces our commitment to implementi­ng and streamlini­ng the mandates of the Directorat­e General of Customs across the business community in Oman. The AEO programme was implemente­d by Royal Oman Police at the Directorat­e General of Customs.

The globally-recognised certificat­ion is in full compliance with the World Custom Organizati­on’s (WCO) standards and the framework developed by the World Customs Organizati­on (WCO). It was also supported by the World Trade Organisati­on’s (WTO) Trade Facilitati­on Agreement, in order to create to establish strategic partnershi­ps to ensure security within the business community and facilitate the internatio­nal supply chain and global trade.

Additional­ly, the programme contribute­s to greater cost savings, fewer customs controls, and recognitio­n of recipients as safe and secure business partners globally.
