Anu, Snehal steer WCS to big win over Sahara

MUSCAT: Excellent all-round show by Anu Amal and a five-wicket destructiv­e spell by Snehal Nair powered Women’s Cricket Sohar (WCS) to a 108-run victory against Sahara Women in a Women’s League T20 clash at Ministry of Sports grassy ground 2 in Al Amerat on Monday.

Batting first, WCS posted 170 for 5 on the board in 20 overs, Anu leading the way with a superb unbeaten 65 off 53 balls. Sakshi Shetty was the other notable contributo­r with 20 off 20. Rochelle Quardros claimed two wickets.

Bowling with the new ball, Snehal ripped Sahara apart with remarkable bowling, taking five wickets for just 12 runs in her four overs as it was dismissed for only 62 in the 17th over. Anu Amal bowled equally well, bagging three wickets for 11 runs in her spell. Shalini Sherigara scored 17 off 22. Snehal Nair 5-12, Anu Amal 3-11) by 108 runs. 7-WICKET BHATI POWERS ISD TO THRILLING WIN OVER PSM A devastatin­g spell by Abhimanyu Bhati bowled Indian School Darsait (ISD) to a sensationa­l 17-run victory against Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) in a Junior League Under-19 match at Ministry of Sports ground 2.

Defending a mere 113, ISD was put in the driver’s seat by Bhati who bowled accurately and aggressive­ly to claim seven PSM scalps for 23 runs in his 6.5 overs. Arjun Rajesh lent him good support by bagging three wickets as PSM folded up for a meagre 96 in the 20th over.

Ubaidullah Khan and Adeel Abbas topscored with 23 and 22 runs respective­ly. The duo had earlier bowled brilliantl­y to dismiss ISD for a paltry 113, taking 4 and 3 wickets respective­ly. Moin Qureshi and Ashik Sony scored 21 each for ISD. BRIEF SCORES: ISD 113 all out in 24.5 overs (Moin Qureshi 21 – 3x4, Ashik Sony 21 – 3x4. MASSIVE WIN Captain Muhammed Muzahir Raza scored a 61-ball hundred and then took three wickets to help Pakistan School Muscat hand a crushing 265-run defeat to MCCC A in a Junior League 30-over Under-16 clash at Muscat Municipali­ty ground 1.

PSM piled up 294 for 6 in 30 overs, thanks to solid knocks by Muzahir (100), Syed Waleed Bukhari (85 off 59) and Bilal (69 off 35). Shybin Benoy bagged three wickets.

None of the MCCC A batsmen could score in double figures as the whole team was bundled out for 29 runs in the 9th over. Muzahir, Nouman Safdar and Talha Haroon all claimed three wickets each. BRIEF SCORES: PSM 294 for 6 in 30 overs (Muzahir Raza 100 – 11x4, Syed Waleed Bukhari 85 – 7x4, Bilal 69 – 12x4.
