Training programme on tenders starts

MUSCAT: The three-day training programme on the public tenders began on Monday at the Tender Board premises under the auspices of Dr Rasheed bin Al Safi al Huraibi, Chairman of the Tender Board.

The programme which targets staff involved in tenders at the different public organisati­ons governed by the Tender Law, aims at developing the skills of participan­ts and reviewing the latest developmen­ts in the field of tenders. The Chairman of Tender Board stressed the importance of this type of programmes in rehabilita­ting the Omani cadres to address the different developmen­ts of public tenders. It also enhances communicat­ion among organisati­ons governed by the Tender Law.

He pointed out that the participan­ts will be briefed on the efforts made to develop the Tender Board, introduce modern system as the e-award system and the new system for management of communicat­ion and documents.

The first day of the programme included a working paper on the Tender Law, the role of the Secretaria­t General of the Tender Board and methods of contractin­g.

The second working paper covered the efforts and measures taken by the Tender Board to implement the decisions of Saih Al Shamikhat Symposium related to awarding 10 per cent of the public purchases and tenders to SMEs. The third working paper covered the mechanisms to study and revise the tender documents.
