-

MUSCAT: As Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al Sisi begins his threeday visit on Sunday on the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, it is noteworthy that the Sultanate has always expressed its solidarity and support for Egypt in its battle against terrorism, made constant efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East and find solutions to the Palestinian problem.

All this stems from the Sultanate’s deep belief in peace and its continued efforts to achieve peace in the GCC region, the Arab world and worldwide. It also stems from the Sultanate’s awareness of the importance of achieving peace so that the countries of the region and their peoples can achieve their national interests in accordance to their own choices without any sort of intervention in their internal affairs. His Majesty the Sultan has stressed on the importance of cooperation among the region’s countries to achieve their common interests.

It is widely known that the OmaniEgyptian relations have gone a long way in achieving common interests in the fields of economy, trade, culture and media. The joint OmaniEgyptian Committee which resumed its meetings in Muscat and Cairo in the past couple of years, seeks to foster the ways of cooperation between the two brotherly countries in such a way as to achieve their common interests including boosting joint investments with the OmaniEgyptian Businessmen Council playing an important role. There are also Omani investments in various fields in Egypt.

Based on firm foundation and strong relations, the Egyptian president’s visit to the Sultanate and the summit which he will hold with His Majesty the Sultan will have a great significance not only because of the similarity of attitudes in many issues, but also because it will be a summit for wisdom and sincere work for finding solutions to the existing disputes the price of which is being paid by Arab countries.
