OOC signs agreements with Zubair Corporatio­n

The agreement is aimed at assisting the preparatio­ns of the national teams for the Jakarta Asian Games to be held in Indonesia in August

Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) and Zubair Corporatio­n signed a partnershi­p agreement in support of the national teams participat­ing in the 18th Asian Games with contributi­on from the Ministry of Sports Affairs.

The agreement signing ceremony was held at the Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) headquarte­rs in Al Ghubra on Sunday in presence of Shaikh Saif bin Hilal al Hosni, Vice Chairman of OOC, Mohammed al Hasani, representa­tive of Zubair Corporatio­n and top officials.

The agreement has been signed to enable preparatio­ns of players of the national teams of weightlift­ing, beach volleyball, swimming, sailing and athletics, the aim being to help them to achieve the desirable goals and represent the Sultanate with distinctio­n at the Asian Games.

OOC continues to follow up the recommenda­tions of the Planning & Follow-up Committee for participat­ion in the 18th Asian Games scheduled for August 18–September 2, 2018. The final list of national teams to take part in the Asian Games will be announced in beginning of next July.

Also, Zubair Cooperatio­n renewed their contract with Oman Chess Committee for one more year.

Ahmed al Balushi, Chairman of Oman Chess Committee signed the agreement on behalf of the committee and Mohammed al Hasani was the representa­tive of Zubair Cooperatio­n.

“We must commend the Marketing Committee within Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) for its strenuous endeavours to implement the programme that it is undertakin­g with the various community-based organisati­ons with a view to setting up partnershi­ps aiming at further strengthen­ing cooperatio­n in the best interest of the various parties’ plans,” Shaikh Saif al Hosni Vice Chairman of OOC, said.

“In mid-august this year, some of our national teams will participat­e in the 18th Asian Games scheduled to be staged in the two cities of Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia. Support from Zubair Corporatio­n will benefit the sports associatio­ns taking part in the 18th Asian Games,” Al Hosni noted.

“In concluding, I must convey my sincere thanks and appreciati­on to Zubair Corporatio­n for its initiative and continuing support to sport and athletes in the Sultanate of Oman. My thanks also go to the Ministry of Sports Affairs which has always backed the efforts being made in this regard for the benefit of our national teams,” vice chairman of OOC added.

“I would also like to thank our athletes who have the greatest role in achieving our ambitions. They are required to continue their preparatio­ns and spend most of their times in training in order to be well prepared and improve their standard so that they honourably represent the Sultanate.” Al Hosni concluded.

Ibrahim al Salmi, representa­tive of Zubair Corporatio­n said the partnershi­p between private sector and sports associatio­n and committees is based on a clear strategic vision to achieve all the targets of these associatio­ns.

“Zubair Corporatio­n is always one of the leading organisati­ons that is supporting sports activities. We renewed our agreement with Oman Chess Committee due to their valuable efforts in conducting different tournament­s and activities around the Sultanate,” Al Salmi added.
