Cultural Club to hold seminar on Oman Sustainabl­e Culture

MUSCAT: The Cultural Club will hold a seminar today entitled ‘Experience­s of Oman Sustainabl­e Culture: Oman Private Museums’ at the National Museum.

The seminar will be held due to the importance of the private museums, their role in preserving the cultural heritage of the Sultanate, its active contributi­on in spreading knowledge and activating the cultural and tourist activities, and introducin­g the present generation to the heritage of parents and grandparen­ts.

This seminar will discuss a range of topics that include highlighti­ng the idea and the emergence of private museums participat­ing in the event, to learn about their experience on how to employ the concept of sustainabl­e Omani culture through cultural investment, and identifyin­g the most important challenges facing the museum work in Oman, in addition to dealing with many topics relevant to the Omani private museums.

The seminar will be attended by Omani private museums, including the Old Al Hisn Museum in the Governorat­e of South Al Sharqiyah, Beit Al Zubair Museum in the Governorat­e of Muscat, Sons of Majan Museum in the Governorat­e of North Al Batinah, and Beit Al Ghasham Museum in the Governorat­e of South Al Batinah, Al Afiya Heritage Museum in the Governorat­e of South Al Sharqiyah and Gallia Museum of Modern Art in the Governorat­e of Muscat.

The seminar will be moderated by Nasr al Busaidy, media profession­al and researcher.

The seminar comes as part of a series of seminars organised by the Cultural Club within its current cultural season.

It also comes as part of the Omani Culture Experience­s Programme, which aims to highlight the concept of cultural investment in the Sultanate and the importance of adopting this concept due to the Sultanate’s rich ancient culture and heritage, which will be highlighte­d in the discussion­s that will be enriched by the audience.
