Tahir powers Jarzez, Gitac register easy victory

MCCC, ISWK and SLSM all win, BOC tie with Indian School Maabela

MUSCAT: A brilliant 70 off 33 balls by Tahir powered Jarzez Trading to a convincing 7-wicket victory against Sam Royals in an H Division match at OAC 3 ground in Seeb.

Sam Royals could not really capitalise on the invitation to bat first and scored only 124 for 8 in 20 overs. Asharaf (38 off 42) and Anudeep (21 off 14) were the only notable scorers. Suhail and Shahid Ali picked up 3 and 2 wickets respective­ly.

Jarzez raced to the target in only 10.3 overs, scoring 125 for 3 thanks to opener Tahir’s whirlwind knock. Rajneesh Jangir chipped in with a fluent 26 off 21.

Brief scores (H Division): Sam Royals 124 for 8 in 20 overs (Asharaf 38 – 7x4, Anudeep 21 – 3x4. Suhail 3-24, Shahid Ali 2-30) lost to Jarzez Trading 125 for 3 in 10.3 overs (Tahir 70 – 10x4, 1x6, Rajneesh Jangir 26 – 4x4. Manoj 2-38) by 7 wickets.

Superb all-round show by Ali Bilal steered Gitac to a thumping 55-run win over OUA Travels in an I Division clash at the same venue.

Batting first, Gitac amassed 218 for 5 in 20 overs thanks to brilliant batting by Ali Bilal (63 off 35), Mohammed Nawaz 52 off 35) and Mohammed Rafiq (unbeaten 33 off 16). Theparambi­l Haneefa bagged 2 for 27.

OUA Travels was restricted to 163 for 6 as Ali picked up vital wickets for his figures of 3 for 45 while Usman Zafar claimed 2 for 18. Theparambi­l Haneefa topscored with 42 while S. Mohammed contribute­d 27.

In a Junior League Under-19 clash, Muscat Cricket Coaching Center (MCCC) scored a thumping 7-wicket win against Indian School Al Seeb (ISAS) thanks to Harith Raghuram’s wonderful all-round performanc­e at the Ministry of Sports grassy ground 2 in Amerat on Saturday.

Harith Raghuram bowled brilliantl­y to claim 4 for 28 as ISAS was dismissed for 199 in 45.2 overs despite opener Mohammed Sahil’s solid 92 off 136 balls. Raghuram then batted beautifull­y (89 off 120) to help his side to a well-deserved victory in the 49th over. Shreyas Samir scored a patient 43 off 115.

Brief scores (Junior League U-19): ISAS 199 all out in 45.2 overs (Mohammed Sahil 92 – 8x4, Gagandeep Singh 25 – 1x4. Harith Raghuram 4-28, Udantha Palihawada­na 3-33) lost to MCCC U-19 203 for 3 in 48.3 overs (Harith Raghuram 89 – 9x4, Shreyash Samir 43 – 4x4, Said Qureshi 25 not out – 2x4) by 7 wickets.

Indian School Wadi Kabir (ISWK) registered an impressive 9-wicket victory against Indian School Al Seeb in a Junior League U-16 A match at Muscat Municipali­ty ground 2 in Amerat.

Bowshar Olympic Center (BOC) dismissed Indian School Maabela for 150 in the 26th over to tie the Junior League Under-16 B match.
