Purdue University Northwest delegates visit Bayan College
MUSCAT: Delegates including professors and students from Purdue University Northwest, USA led by Dr Raida Abuizam, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, College of Business and Dr Karen Bishop, Interim Dean of Honors College along with seven students from different academic disciplines visited Bayan College on December 9. The visit is a part of the activities under the Academic Affiliation Agreement between Bayan College and Purdue University Northwest.
During the visit Dr Radia and Dr Karen reviewed the academic departments and academic support services.
Chairman of Executive Board, Dr Modi Juma al Ghailani briefed the guests on the history of the College, its foundation and development over the years. Dr Modi said Bayan College witnessed tremendous improvements in performance and the quality of academic programmes.
Dr Radia did a presentation for the students and staff of Bayan College on the topic ‘The role of Women in the Labour Force of the Future’. The students from Purdue University Northwest spoke about their experience in Oman and about their thesis topics.
The delegation has also met Dr Daniel Stuart Wilbur, Bayan College Dean who explained about the horizons of cooperation between Bayan College and Purdue University Northwest, and how such cooperation will benefit the students through visits and experience exchange.
The Dean of Bayan College Dr Daniel Stuart Wilbur said the visit of the delegates enhances the cooperation between the two institutions in terms of sharing academic and cultural experiences.
Purdue University students also met members of Bayan College Students Council and exchanged views and ideas on their aspirations in relation to common interests as students. The meeting also involved a guided tour of the College’s facilities and services.
Bayan College is the first private Media College in the Sultanate offering Majors in Broadcasting, Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising.
