The Winter Programme (Innovation Journey) for students has begun at Science and Technology Centre at General Directorate of Education in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. It will run until January 17.

A total of 754 students have registered for the programme.

It comprises training courses and workshops for students in the areas of renewable energy and microinnovation, interactive education, artificial intelligence, educational robot and nanotechnology.

The programme aims to enhance innovation and exploration skills of students in public and private schools. It also deals with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Saif bin Abdullah al Hashimi, Assistant Director of IT Department, said: “The focus is on the implementation of workshops in the field of environment conservation and activating renewable sources of energy and recycling to make the environment free from pollutants.”

“The exploitation of solar energy is one of the alternatives to renewable energies, which serve the process of preserving environment.”

Marwan bin Zahran al Azri, a student from Izki School, said: “I came here to learn innovations. We learnt how to program electronic cars to determine their route by drawing the track with an electronic pen.”

“As the world celebrates World Environment Day, I joined a workshop on renewable energy to learn how to preserve environment, what we should do to preserve environment and what things are harmful to environment. I have greatly benefited from the workshop. What I have learned can be implemented at home to conserve environment by using energy renewable sources,” said Jenan bint Khalid Ambosaidi, a student.

The programme is part of the activities of Science and Technology Center to develop skills of students in the fields of technology and renewable energy.
