Mantheri hails role of NDC in honing national talent

MUSCAT: State Council Chairman Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri on Sunday received members of the 6th National Defence Course under the leadership of Major Gen Salim bin Musallam Qatan, Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC).

Dr Al Mantheri welcomed the efforts of the Sultan’s Armed Forces and its role in the country’s developmen­t and modernisat­ion, and congratula­ted it on the success of Al Shumookh 2 and Al Saif Al Sarea 3 exercise.

He also congratula­ted the NDC on its sixth anniversar­y, praising the vital role being played by the college in order to raise the level of knowledge and skills of leaders at various levels, in line with the keenness of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to develop Omani human resources in all sectors and at all levels to enhance the comprehens­ive developmen­t process.

He said the Council would play its role in the national work in accordance with its competence­s and powers within the framework of the State Institutio­ns and Law establishe­d by His Majesty the Sultan. Major General Salim bin Musallam Qatan said that the visit aims to learn about the Council and its functions, stressing the vital role played by the Council in national action.

He pointed out that the National Defence Course is a strategic study programme for national decision makers, and it deals with all elements of the power of the state in different dimensions.

The delegation viewed a film about the State Council and its Chairman answered the questions of the members of the team.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Dr Al Khatab bin Ghalib al Hinai, State Council Vice Chairman, members of the Council and the Secretary General of the Council.
