Busi­ness fac­ulty stu­dents visit Or­pic

MUS­CAT: A group of 58 stu­dents and staff mem­bers of So­har Univer­sity vis­ited Or­pic on a study tour. The se­nior stu­dents pur­su­ing Bach­e­lors in Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion were in­tro­duced to the pub­lic re­la­tions prac­tices of Or­pic.

Ex­ter­nal Re­la­tions Depart­ment head Saeed al Maa­mari and Mar­kets and Lo­gis­tics ad­min­is­tra­tor Naeema al Zu­faiti re­ceived the del­e­ga­tion of boys, girls and staff mem­bers of the fac­ulty.

Hav­ing been briefed about safety as­pects, the stu­dents were given an in­tro­duc­tion to Or­pic and its his­tory us­ing video and power point pre­sen­ta­tion. Daeij al Hosni, the head of se­cu­rity, briefed the stu­dents about the safety rules and pro­ce­dures at Or­pic. Naeema al Zu­faiti and Saeed al Maa­mari gave the sub­ject-spe­cific talk, which was fol­lowed by an in­ten­sive ques­tion-an­swer ses­sion.

Course co­or­di­na­tor Dr Sh­weta mod­er­ated the ses­sion to make stu­dents un­der­stand the link be­tween the­ory and prac­ti­cal com­po­nents as it ap­plies in main­tain­ing ex­ter­nal re­la­tions at Or­pic.

“It was a very well-con­ceived study tour which helped the stu­dents learn PR prac­tices in authen­tic re­al­life con­texts,” said Ni­bras al Rashdi, the stu­dent coun­cil rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the univer­sity. Dr Rakesh Bel­wal, Amal al Badi and Khoula al Shi­bli also at­tended the event.
