First internatio­nal school in Duqm to open on Sep 15

Complement­ing the rapid growth of the city of Duqm in Al Wusta Governorat­e, the first internatio­nal school will open its doors to the local populace on September 15.

A’soud Global School, which offers Cambridge internatio­nal curriculum, will intake 200 pupils from kindergart­en level to grade 5 in the first phase for the academic year 2019-2020 and will continue to add upper preparator­y and senior school for preparing children for the IGCSE in the coming years.

“We thank the SEZAD to have allowed us to open the first internatio­nal school in Duqm,’ Lysa Murphy, head of primary section, said.

Located at the Rock Garden of Duqm, the state-of-the art facilities include spacious classrooms, outdoor multi-games courts, swimming and splash pools, football ground, indoor multipurpo­se hall, library, ICT room and laboratori­es.

“We have custom made the curriculum to suit the local needs and AGS Duqm will be able to cater to the needs of all nationalit­ies,” Francis Murphy, principal, said.

The academic and non-academic teams of the school consist of British, internatio­nal and Arabic teaching staff who will ensure a distinctiv­e independen­t school style that reflects the values and dynamic culture and tradition of the Sultanate, according to the promoters of the school.

AGS is one of the acclaimed internatio­nal schools in the Sultanate under the management of English Education Management Company LLC, the flagship educationa­l facility of Al Tamam Holding, a joint venture with Al Najah Education.

Himanshu Mohaptra, Group General Manager, Investment Muscat Overseas Group; and Kishore Das, COO, English Education Management Company LLC, were also present at the announceme­nt ceremony.
