Civil Technology, Al Wusta United and A’safwa ensure division titles

SALALAH: Civil Technology, Al Wusta United and A’safwa ensured division titles as the Oman Cricket Club-salalah 2019-2020 league matches are coming to an end on February 14.

There are four more matches to be played in A division with that the league matches which started on November 28, 2019 will conclude. A total of 87 league matches were played in 4 divisions.

A division final standing will know only after the last four matches.

In B Division, Civil Technology won all their six league matches and emerged as champions.

Abu Saeed Restaurant finished runners-up after winning four matches and losing two.

In C Division, Al Wusta United clinched the title after winning four of their five league matches.

Saham Al Janoob also had four wins but lower net run-rate put them in the runners-up slot.

In D Division, A’safwa Dairy won all five matches to become champions.

Anil Kumar, Secretary of Oman Cricket Club-salalah, announced the commenceme­nt of fourth knockout tournament with one Senior Cup and two Junior Cup matches on February 14.

The knockout tournament is played in two divisions, Senior Cup and Junior Cup. A and B division teams from the league will play in Senior Cup while C and D division teams from the league will play Junior Cup.

A total of 30 matches will be played and finals of both the cups will be played on March 13.

Board of Directors specially Madhu Jesrani, Secretary Oman Cricket, Duleep Mendis, Chief Developmen­t Officer and national head coach, are expected to be witnessing the finals with Omani dignitarie­s from Directorat­e-general of Dhofar sports and cultural department­s.

From the 28 teams that played the league, 22 teams are playing the knockout tournament­s. Six teams backed out due to some unavoidabl­e reasons.
