Air passengers reach 3.72 million

MUSCAT: The total number of passengers travelling through airports in the Sultanate (Muscat, Salalah, Suhar and Duqm) at the end of July 2020 reached 3.72 million passengers.

The number of flights landing and departing at the end of July 2020 reached 26,405, according to the latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and informatio­n (NCSI).

The total number of passengers at Muscat Internatio­nal Airport fell by 64.2 per cent to 3.34 million passengers at the end of July 2020, over the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the total number of flights at Muscat Internatio­nal Airport also fell by 59.7 per cent to 27,103 flights at the end of July 2020, from 67,309 flights for the same period of 2019.

The number of internatio­nal flights at Muscat Internatio­nal Airport was 24,792 at the end of July 2020, a fall of 59.6 per cent over the same period of 2019. The total number of internatio­nal passengers at the Muscat Internatio­nal Airport fell by 64.4 per cent to 3.10 million passengers. This included 1.50 million passenger arrivals, 1.59 million passenger departures, and 6,435 passenger transits.

Domestic flights at Muscat Internatio­nal Airport declined to 2,311 flights in July against 5,867 flights for the same period of 2019. The arrival and departure of domestic flights fell 60.9 per cent and 60 per cent. The total number of domestic passengers at Muscat Internatio­nal Airport fell by 61.2 per cent to 246,758 passengers at the end of July 2020 against 635,905 passengers for the same period of the previous year. This included 122,536 passenger arrivals and 124,222 passenger departures, the NCSI report showed.
