Oman, Indonesia seek to enhance commercial ties
Oman and Indonesia are exploring opportunities to support the digital transformation under way in the two countries. This was emphasised during a virtual press conference held earlier this week.
It follows the recent partnership agreement between Omani tech company ETCO with Indonesian Awadah Group, which promotes a cultural-linguistic exchange between the two nations using technology.
This partnership also involves Indonesia’s WIR Group as the technology enabler and developer in the digital reality aspect of it.
Ambassador Mohamad Irzan Djohan hopes that more Omani companies, especially from the private sector, will establish such partnerships with Indonesian companies. Omani companies and investors will be connected with their Indonesian companies in the digital services sector by the Indonesian Embassy in Muscat.
“We are optimistic that Omani companies and investors are interested in strategic partnerships with Indonesian companies because both nations and their peoples share similar values. Aside from the economic benefits of having a strategic partnership, we believe that our two peoples could work together well, which is important in having a partnership,” Mohamad Irzan Djohan, Indonesian Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, said.
The digital transformation that the country has undergone in the recent past has supported the economy and other spheres of life.
This expertise can be shared with the Omani counterparts benefiting both sides in various ways. “Indonesia has undergone more than a decade of digital transformation which has improved human interactions, learnings and transactions. This also has created many Indonesian companies specialising in future technology, such as WIR Group which specialises in augmented reality, virtual reality and artificial intelligence,” Ahmad Ma’rufi, First Secretary at the economic section, said.
