- ADIL AL BALUSHI MUSCAT, MAY 12

Oman beach soccer team began the initial training sessions after arrival of the team in Rabat city in Morocco on Tuesday. Coach Talib Hilal will guide the squad during the warm-up sessions at the overseas camp until Sunday.

The training programme started with some fitness training at closed indoor gymnasium after an arduous travel to the country. The training plan will continue in the following days with more comprehensive training sessions besides some tactical training on sand pitches. Experienced coach Talib will test the players’ technical performance during the friendly matches as two preparatory games are confirmed against Morocco on Saturday and Sunday. The warm-up matches will be a golden opportunity for Talib Hilal and his technical assistant staff to finalise the starting eleven for the World beach soccer championship event.

The Morocco camp is the first preparatory station for the team in their actual preparation for the top-profile event of Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup Russia 2021 that will be held from August 19 to 29.

The next overseas camp will take place in Dubai in June and will feature series of friendly matches. The preparatory plan will feature many training sessions besides friendly matches against tough international teams to shape the players properly for the global beach soccer assignment.

The training programme is likely to have more external camps during July and August months as it is expected that the suspension of the domestic sporting activities in the Sultanate will continue until September, according to government sporting entities.
