Oman beach soccer team concludes Morocco camp
Oman’s beach soccer national team players concluded recently the overseas camp in Morocco under supervision of the experienced long-time coach Talib Hilal.
The six-day external preparatory camp, which began on May 10, featured two vital friendly games against Morocco beach soccer team. The Sultanate’s team had suffered a 5-2 loss in the first preparatory game while they registered a 3-1 win in the second friendly game. Abdullah al Souti scored two goals and Khalid al Oraimi netted the opening goal.
Despite a short camp in Morocco, the former Asian champions obtained many technical purposes and gained the match experience after long absence since last December. The technical staff of the team headed by Hilal, tested different faces during both the matches.
The first warm-up match did not go well for the national team due to long break from training sessions and official matches. However, the Sultanate’s beach soccer team players bounced back strongly in the second match as they beat the hosts 3-1 to confirm that the technical preparatory plan is moving in right direction.
The abroad camp, which was an invitation from Morocco Football Federation, was part of preparation for the top assignment at Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup
Russia 2021 that will be held from August 19 to 29. The following step in the team’s preparatory plan is to travel to Dubai in June to have the second overseas camp.
The preparatory plan will feature many training sessions besides friendly matches against tough international teams to shape the players for the global beach soccer event.
The Sultanate’s beach soccer team had participated in Beach Soccer World Cup in Ravenna city in Italy in 2011 and in Portugal in 2015. The third participation of the team was at the Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay in December 2019. The Oman team had registered a crucial win against Nigeria. The national team had suffered two losses against Portugal and Brazil.
