MUSCAT: As part of its social responsibility initiatives towards the education sector, Oman International Development and Investment Company (OMINVEST) recently extended support towards the e-enabling of Habraa School, one of the oldest in Wilayat Wadi al Maawil in Al Batinah South Governorate. The school serves around 630 students from grades 1 to 10.

The contribution included setting up the required infrastructure for Internet connectivity across the school premises, in addition to providing electric tablets for students’ e-learning.

Dr Hiba al Baloushi, Principal of Habraa School said, “we are grateful to the kind support of OMINVEST who supported the school practically and sustainably. They were attentive to our needs and the challenges we face. They were very much hands-on through the entire process, making sure all Internet infrastructure setup and purchased tablets were compliant with the specifications set by the General Directorate of Education”.

Sarah Lashkoo, Company Secretary and Head of Legal and Compliance at OMINVEST said, “serving and enriching societies is at the heart of OMINVEST’S purpose statement. We are glad to extend support to Habraa School. The school’s Principal and team have been very cooperative and swift in responding with the needed arrangement to have the Internet connectivity and tablets fully equipped and running before students went back to school”.

The initiative comes in response to the significant changes the schooling system has witnessed globally and in the Sultanate since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in addition to the increase in the adoption of online education and e-schooling. This is the second year in a row that OMINVEST extends such support to schools; last year the initiative focused on a school in Wilayat Al Suwaiq.
