MHD-ITICS sponsors map of Oman painting

MUSCAT: In preparatio­n for Oman’s 52nd National Day, the Infrastruc­ture, Technology, Industrial and Consumer Solutions cluster of Mohsin Haider Darwish LLC (MHDITICS) has supported an event that brought together 27 artists from across the country to paint a three-metre by two-metre map of the Sultanate of Oman.

The event, held under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Kamil bin Fahd al Said, the Secretary-general of the General Secretaria­t of the Council of Ministers, experience­d a morning of unity, inspiratio­n and empowermen­t of Oman’s art community.

Hosted by Honourable Lujaina Mohsin Haider Darwish, Chairperso­n, MHD-ITICS, at Al Bustan – A Ritz Carlton Hotel, on November 15, the event witnessed the presence of some of the highly-esteemed guests including excellenci­es, leading business personnel and attendees from all over the country.

Ideated by Maryam Bani Orabah, the event under the theme ‘Building Oman, Together’ showcased a montage portraying the journey of the painting, featuring picturesqu­e landscapes and testimonia­ls from the artists. This was followed by the unveiling of the Map of Oman by HH Sayyid Kamil.

Honourable Lujaina Mohsin Haider Darwish then delivered a keynote speech. To add to the exuberance of the morning, Oman’s well-renowned singer and songwriter, Haitham Rafi delivered a performanc­e par excellence.

Haider Darwish said, “Art is a platform for people to express their feelings, emotions and thoughts in ways that are not always possible in words or actions.

“Therefore, in celebratin­g the 52nd National Day, there is no better way to demonstrat­e our sense of belonging and patriotism than the display of a work of brilliance, curated by extremely talented Omani artists, representi­ng their wilayats gathered to pay tribute to our beloved nation.”

“MHD-ITICS will continue to support and bring forth local talents. The gifted artists in our midst reflect artisanal values. Their artistic practice reflects traditions whose influence continues to flow through our contempora­ry culture. With the right level of support and encouragem­ent, these artists are the creative stimuli that fertilise the seeds and enable a truly vibrant cultural hub to grow,” she added.
