Barcelo Musannah Resort to host Oman sailing team

Muscat:omansailha­spartnered with Barcelo Musannah Resort as the official hotel supporter of the Oman Sail Olympic Programme, sailing through until December 31. Musannah’s flagship beach resort will host the Oman Olympic squad as they train for the Sailing World Championsh­ips in 2023 and 2024, Asian Games 2023, and for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Oman currently has 10 Olympic athletes competing in ILCA, 49er, Windsurfin­g and Kite classes. Scheduled with an action-packed training period until the end of the year, the Oman Olympic squad will be able to train in the Sultanate of Oman’s pristine blue waters. Barcelo Musannah Resort welcomes the national sailing team to the stunning property with complete access to the stateof-the-art facilities as the Olympic squad mentally and physically prepare themselves for the exciting championsh­ips ahead.

“Our ultimate ambition is to win a medal for Oman in sailing at the Olympics, and with Paris 2024 under two years away we need to offer our athletes a home base where they can train together and focus on qualificat­ion.”

The Oman Sail Olympic Programme is part of Oman Sail’s long-term strategy for developing sailing across the nation, culminatin­g in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This period also includes key milestones to measure progress and gauge success, including 20th Asian Games Aichi-nagoya 2026 and 21st Asian Games Doha 2030, as well as the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, should World Sailing’s #Backthebid campaign to see sailing reinstated be successful. Set against the majestic Hajar Mountains backdrop with uninterrup­ted views of the sea of Oman, Barcelo Musannah Resort is a unique destinatio­n resort equipped to not only host sailing teams but also accommodat­e an array of water enthusiast­s. The resort features four swimming pools, as well as a children’s pool, a private marina and the Zayna Spa and Health Fitness Club, a space completely dedicated to wellness and suitable for elite athletes with 10 treatment rooms and personalis­ed services including a spa, sauna, steam baths, jacuzzi and fully-equipped gymnasium.
