14,977 voters to cast ballots in OCCI elections

As many as 21 members from 125 contestant­s will be elected to the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board of Directors (OCCI) for 2022-2026 by about 14,977 voters who will cast their ballots on Tuesday.

The Election Commission governing the elections to the Board of Directors of the OCCI, chaired by Dr Saleh bin Said Masan, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, said that final preparatio­ns for the election procedure were over and it was all set to welcome the voters from 8 am to 6 pm.

“The Election Commission visited the polling centre in Muscat Governorat­e at the OCEC to see the preparatio­ns for the electoral process, which will begin at 8 am on Tuesday,” said Dr Saleh bin Said Masan, who is also the head of the commission.

Elaborate arrangemen­ts are in place to make the electoral process smooth and foolproof. Accordingl­y, all voters are advised to carry their identity cards, whether citizenshi­p cards or resident cards, as the case may be, and be present at the voting centres on time.

The board of directors will consist of five members from Muscat Governorat­e, 10 chairmen of the board of directors of the branches, 5 members representi­ng the companies listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange, and one member who will represent foreign investors.
