RO 250,000 mobile mammography unit for N and S Al Batinah
Jusoor Foundation celebrated the delivery of the Mobile Mammography Unit project for breast cancer screening in North and South Al Batinah, under the auspices of Mohammed bin Sulaiman bin Hamoud al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah and Jusoor Chairman.
Dr Khalid bin Said al Saadi, Director-general of Health Services in North Al Batinah, said that the project is of great importance in providing a free of charge early screening service for breast cancer in the governorates of North and South Al Batinah. It uses the latest technologies in screening including the mammogram, which detects if there is breast cancer before its signs and symptoms appear. Indeed, the mobile unit will increase the chances of women to attend in their wilayats and benefit from one of the services provided by the medical staff specialised in this area.

Executive Manager of Jusoor Foundation, said the unit project is funded by OQ, Sohar Aluminium and Vale Oman with an investment of RO 250,000. Al Busaidy added that the project will be managed by the Omani Cancer Association (OCA).
Dr Wahid bin Ali al Kharousi, President of OCA said it will help in early detection of breast cancer by conducting periodic examinations for women in North and South Al Batinah, and spreading awareness in the community about breast cancer.
