Liwa Model Residentia­l City to accommodat­e 30,000 residents

LIWA: As part of celebratio­ns marking Oman’s 52nd National Day, HH Sayyid Belarab bin Haitham al Said will patronise over a ceremony marking the opening of Liwa Model Residentia­l City, which covers an area of 12 million sqm, on Monday.

The city, set up in the vicinity of Al Batinah Expressway, has been designed to accommodat­e 30,000 residents. It boasts a broad range of services and facilities, including 1,300 housing units and around 3,400 single and double residentia­l units. The city is also designed to cater to 50,000 residents and visitors in the future.

Carried out by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, the city constitute­s a comprehens­ive model for sustainabl­e cities. Its configurat­ion is based on interactiv­e participat­ion among government department­s concerned, firms and public service providers. It witnessed direct participat­ion from society in all its stages of planning and design.
