Mohammed clinches National Day title for 100 km endurance race

Mohammed bin Ahmed al Balushi was crowned with the title of the 52nd National Day Endurance Race for 100 km at the Al Mohammed Endurance Village in Barka.

As many as 58 horses participat­ed in the Oman Equestrian Federation-organised endurance race for the season 2022-23 on the occasion of 52nd Oman National Day.

The race witnessed the ability to successful­ly pass the first stage, as 58 horses entered the competitio­n and were able to pass the first stage successful­ly.

Twenty six horses qualified for the third and final stage as four horses reached the finishing line.

Mohammed bin Ahmed al Balushi claimed the top honours with the car prize on ‘Arby Majlek Man’ owned by Mahmoud bin Ahmed bin Abdul-montazah and trained by Abdullah bin Khalifa al Azizi.

In second place was ‘Berkane’ rode by Nasser bin Khaled al

Fawry, and owned by Badr bin Khalaf al Maamari, under the coaching of Saud bin Badr al Maamari. Salah bin Khamis al Hammadi claimed the third place on ‘Mona Lisa’ owned by Ahmed bin Ali al Balushi, and coached by Muhammad bin Ali al Balushi.

‘Trelli Paya’ finished fourth rode by Abdullah bin Mohammed al Dhahali, and trained by Muhammad bin Badr al Maamari.

The federation had set general conditions to participat­e in the 100 km race. It included that the horse must be less than six years old and registered with the Oman Equestrian Federation, green colour was allotted for a distance of 35 km, red colour for a distance of 25 km, the heart rate was 64 beats per minute and the minimum speed was 14 km per hour.

The OEF also allocated valuable prizes for this race, which bears the name of the Oman National Day where the first and second place winners got cars while cash prizes were given for the top ten riders.
