Agreement signed to train 1,000 job-seekers
MUSCAT: A cooperation agreement was signed to offer training for 1,000 Omani jobseekers at vocational colleges. The agreement was inked by the National Employment Programme (NEP) to raise the efficiency of job-seekers and qualify them to take up jobs in the labour market.
The agreement was signed by Dr Mahad bin Said Baowain, Minister of Labour, and Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, in Muscat on Tuesday.
The programme focuses on students who have successfully completed
Grade 10 basic education level and wish to pursue their studies to obtain vocational qualifications that respond to the transitions taking place in the labour market.
The programme also benefits students aged 18 years and above who are registered as job-seekers. It also provides a financial reward as an incentive during the study and training periods.
The agreement states that the students may get to join a diverse range of vocational programmes that extend for two academic years, after which the students obtain a certificate of professional competence.
