Oman, Kazakhstan sign pact to form joint committee
MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has received a written message from President Kassym-jomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The message was handed over to HH Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, when he received in his office Mukhtar Tileuberdi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the guest conveyed greetings and best wishes of the Kazakh President to His Majesty the Sultan and the Omani people.
On his turn, HH Sayyid Asaad asked the guest minister to convey greetings and best wishes of His
Majesty the Sultan to President Tokayev and the people of Kazakhstan.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and means of promoting them in various field. It also reviewed a set of matters of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, the secretarygeneral and the two advisers at the Office of HH Sayyid Asaad, as well as the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Oman and members of the delegation accompanying the guest.
The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Kazakhstan held a session of political talks here on Wednesday.
The session reviewed areas of bilateral cooperation in fields of economy, renewable energy, tourism and food security.
The Omani side was headed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, while the Kazakh side was headed by Mukhtar Tileuberdi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
During the session, the two sides exchanged views on various regional and international matters of mutual interest.
The two sides signed an agreement to establish the Joint Oman-kazakhstan Committee, in addition to inking a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on political consultations.
The talks session was attended by Khalid bin Hashel al Muselhi, Head of the Minister’s Office
Department, Munthir bin Mahfoudh al Manthari, Head of the International Organisations Department, Shaikh Hamad bin Saif al Rawahi, Head of the International Cooperation Department, Najmedin Muhametali, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Oman, and several officials from both sides.
Meanwhile, Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance, received in his office on Wednesday Mukhtar Tileuberdi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed means of enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on various economic and investment matters.
