OOC to hold General Assembly meeting on Tuesday
The General Assembly of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) will convene its regular meeting for this year on Tuesday, at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Al Irfan city, the meeting will be chaired by Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, OOC president.
During the meeting, the minutes of the previous meeting of OOC General Assembly, that held on March 28, will be ratified, which includes a report on the administrative situation and the committee’s activities for the year 2023.
Several events were organised domestically, notably hosted GCC NOCS Presidents in Muscat in October 2023, and organised “Step Forward” programme for female sports leaders, and the programme on the importance of physical activity and proper nutrition in Al Buraimi, Saham and Salalah.
The Athletes Forum was held in Salalah, Sur and the Olympic Committee headquarters in Muscat, as well as the Sohar Walk event, and the Physical Activity Day event organised in Musandam Governorate, were also highlighted.
Additionally, the report includes the major administrative actions and decisions taken by the Board of Directors, the Executive Office, and internal committees during their meetings throughout the year. It also includes reports and technical results of the committee’s external participations, represented by the 15th Arab Sports Games that was held in Algeria from July 5 to 15 and the 19th Asian Games that was held in China from September 23 to October 8.
Furthermore, OOC activities and events for the current year 2024 will be discussed, including external participations such as the 7th Arab Women’s Clubs Games that was held in the United Arab Emirates in February 2023 and the 1st GCC Youth Games, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates in April. Additionally, the 33rd Summer Olympic Games (Paris 2024), the 1st Gulf Indoor Sports and Martial Arts Games to be hold in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to be hold in Thailand in November.
Also, an overview of the internal events and programmes approved by the Board of Directors to be held 2024, such as Olympic Day, the approved programmes of Oman Olympic Academy for 2024, a range of sports, awareness, and social events included the activity of the assisting committees of the Board of Directors.
The meeting will review the financial statements for the fiscal year ending in 2023, the auditor’s report for the previous year, and the proposed budget for the current fiscal year 2024 will be presented and approved by the General Assembly.
The General Assembly meeting will be concluded by a discussion of proposals submitted by members of the Assembly, if any, according to the provisions of OOC Statute.
