GROUP IFTAR HOLDS A SPECIAL PLACE IN OMANI SOCIETY, FOSTERING FAMILIAL TIES AND COMMUNITY UNITY DURING THE HOLY MONTH OF RAMADHAN

SOCIAL LIFE in Oman is characterised by the presence of numerous customs and traditions that constitute the most important features of social life, including group iftars. The phenomenon of group iftar during the month of Ramadhan helps strengthen family relationships and brings together the largest number of family members at one time and place.

The phenomenon of group breakfast is characteristic of the holy month. Especially on the first day, there is a group breakfast in the family home which helps strengthen family relationships and create a family atmosphere that you may not find on many occasions, due to the hectic life of many family members.

Organising iftars inside mosques is one of the aspect that you rarely find during normal days, and this is what distinguishes the holy month. This is considered one of the good things that help bring together all communities in one place and time. This also brings them together with the call of religion, and also paints a cultural and aesthetic picture of the diversity of nationalities and their differences in languages.

The group iftar in mosques is a prominent milestone during this holy month where Islamic communities of different nationalities gather at one table having breakfast together.

The group Iftar is a phenomenon that has a special taste, which is a family gathering in which the spirit of cooperation and family rapprochement prevails. The group Iftar is not limited to the family only, but there are many private parties and charitable organisations that organise this and in several places. Mosques are considered one of the most important places where group Iftar is held, and they include many Islamic communities that are united at that time by one idea and style.

On the other side, many institutions and companies are keen to hold a group iftar for their employees during Ramadhan every year. The aim of this is to strengthen team spirit and brotherly bonding among employees, and strengthen the bonds of love between employees and senior management. In addition, to offering thanks and gratitude to the employees of the institution for their efforts. Throughout the year, the month of Ramadhan represents an ideal opportunity to hold such friendly meetings that enhance human interaction between employees, leading to closer ties between them in a family atmosphere in which the spirit of cooperation and brotherhood prevails.

While there is a large percentage of citizens who make a personal effort in organising a group iftar in places where foreign communities and residents are concentrated, this is because some of them may not find time to prepare meals for iftar, and some of them are unable to eat various types of food, and their eating is limited to other meals.

Many citizens and non-citizens who make individual efforts, and do not hesitate to provide all subsidies in a manner consistent with the teachings of the Islamic religion, use the preparation of meals either in agreement with several restaurants or hotels that prepares those meals and deliver them to the required destination.
