Spotlight on infrastructure initiatives and sustainable tourism in Sur
The tourism sector contributes to economic diversification and has many opportunities for growth and sustainability. This is greatly because Oman enjoys many unique natural, historic, cultural, and artistic components and resources.
Oman has achieved tangible development in the tourism sector, emerging as a distinguished tourist destination, and occupying an advanced position.
Choosing Sur as the capital of Arab tourism is an important incentive to complete tourism development projects. This helps improve the quality of tourism services and is in line with aspirations, and enhances the position of Sur in the Arab world and globally.
The programme will include many activities, events, and media and marketing campaigns in Sur in particular and the Al Sharqiyah South Governorate in general. Providing distinctive tourism experiences for visitors to and enhancing local community participation through their participation in organising activities and events related to the executive programme.
A number of development projects and initiatives that empower individuals, youth, and sustainability in the governorate, the most prominent of which are Sur-al Kamil W’al Wafi Road Project, the Al Kamil W’al Wafi- Jaalan Bani Bu Ali Road Project, and the Bilad Sur-al Ghalila Road Project.
Dr Yahya bin Badr bin Malik Al Maawali, Governor of Al Sharqiyah South, pointed out that the vision witnessed the participation of all segments of society in formulating its axes and priorities.
It is now consolidating the same approach in the implementation phase, according to a scientific approach that reviews the positive aspects of the application to work on strengthening them. This helps maximise the results of Oman Vision 2040 and its loyal citizens.
Dr Yahya explains that the ‘All Oman’ project constitutes an important addition to the efforts aimed at the precise implementation of Oman Vision 2040 through the introductory sessions.
In addition to meeting with higher education students in the governorate, and that all of this represents an additional impetus for the vision on the paths of methodological application based on sound scientific foundations, noting in this context the exceptional importance of the “All Oman” project in empowering the governorates and enhancing their role in achieving the goals of the vision and helping them to achieve Carrying out its role in the required manner that achieves the desired benefits.
He stressed that the governorate’s keenness to align its development plans with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040, through effective partnership and complementary roles with various government agencies.
This is in addition to striving to attract investments from investors by creating an appropriate environment in order to achieve sustainable and balanced development.
The Governor also pointed out that the governorate is working to exploit its comparative advantages represented by the blue economy, and is also working to enable the decentralisation approach and maximise the return on investment by providing more investment opportunities. This also helps to supplement the governorate’s economy and creating job opportunities for its people, highlighting the promising results of implementing the priorities of ‘Oman Vision 2040.’
