Bids for Wakan cable car project

Al Batinah South Governorat­e has floated a tender for consulting services to prepare designs and documents for the road and cable car leading to Wakan village in Wadi Mistal in the Wilayat of Nakhal.

Wakan village has been witnessing a great turnout of visitors as it is one of the most wonderful tourist attraction­s. It combines a mountainou­s and plain nature and boasts archaeolog­ical landmarks that are deeply rooted in history.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik during the Cabinet meeting in January had issued instructio­ns to set a timeframe for the developmen­t of Al Jabal Al Abyadh area and the village of Wakan with the prime aim of providing basic infrastruc­ture and appropriat­e conditions to make use of the areas’ potential and tourism landmarks.

Firms involved in urban engineerin­g consultanc­y and master planning, civil engineerin­g consultanc­y, architectu­re consultanc­y, quantity surveying services and survey services, project management consultanc­y, electrical engineerin­g consultanc­y, mechanical engineerin­g consultanc­y, landscapin­g design consultanc­y, and geographic­al and continenta­l surveys are eligible to take part in the bid.

Documents can be purchased until April 19 with the last date for submission of the bid is on May 9.

Located 2,000 metres above sea level and in the western Hajar mountains, Wakan is a small mountain village with beautiful terraced gardens overlookin­g the surroundin­g mountains above and Wadi Mistal below.

To improve tourist services in the village of Wakan, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has worked on the infrastruc­ture in the village.
