Bids for Wakan cable car project
Al Batinah South Governorate has floated a tender for consulting services to prepare designs and documents for the road and cable car leading to Wakan village in Wadi Mistal in the Wilayat of Nakhal.
Wakan village has been witnessing a great turnout of visitors as it is one of the most wonderful tourist attractions. It combines a mountainous and plain nature and boasts archaeological landmarks that are deeply rooted in history.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik during the Cabinet meeting in January had issued instructions to set a timeframe for the development of Al Jabal Al Abyadh area and the village of Wakan with the prime aim of providing basic infrastructure and appropriate conditions to make use of the areas’ potential and tourism landmarks.
Firms involved in urban engineering consultancy and master planning, civil engineering consultancy, architecture consultancy, quantity surveying services and survey services, project management consultancy, electrical engineering consultancy, mechanical engineering consultancy, landscaping design consultancy, and geographical and continental surveys are eligible to take part in the bid.
Documents can be purchased until April 19 with the last date for submission of the bid is on May 9.
Located 2,000 metres above sea level and in the western Hajar mountains, Wakan is a small mountain village with beautiful terraced gardens overlooking the surrounding mountains above and Wadi Mistal below.
To improve tourist services in the village of Wakan, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has worked on the infrastructure in the village.
