USE MUNICIPAL SLAUGHTERHOUSES FOR EID

- BALQEES AL ORAIMI

Muscat Municipality announced the readiness of its slaughterhouses in Al Amerat and Al Seeb for Eid al Fitr. The veterinary medical staff will ensure that all procedures are being taken to ensure the animals are free of any diseases. These slaughterhouses have a sufficient number of butchers and cleaners for hassle-free services .

The municipality supervises the company operating the slaughterhouses, which uses modern slaughtering equipment and devices for meat processing, storage and transport under the supervision of specialised staff.

It will also accommodate a large amount of carcasses of all types to ensure the health and safety of individuals. It is also working in coordination with the company operating the slaughterhouses to extend the working hours before Eid al-fitr in two shifts.

To avoid rush and ensure delivery on time, the slaughterhouses will work on the first day of Eid from 7 am to 2 pm for processing meat of sheep and goats. The second shift from 7 pm to 10 pm is slotted for cows and camels. The second day will have the same morning time. But the evening time will be from 4 pm to 8 pm. On the third day the slaughterhouses will work from 6 am to 1 pm.

The municipality urged the people to use its slaughterhouses instead of residential premises for healthy handling of meat. This is to avoid contracting diseases that are transmitted from animals to humans. It also warned against dealing with butchers without certificates. This certificate ensures that butchers are free of infectious diseases and that the slaughter process is safe. Using slaughterhouses also ensures clean disposal innards instead of dumping it in public places, which will attract animals and birds.
