HAPPINESS OF EID FILL STREETS OF NIZWA

During Eid in Nizwa, the community gathers to celebrate and exchange greetings and congratula­tions while homes are decorated with vibrant colours and festive decoration­s as people share Omani halwa, sweets, and other delicious food.

The beauty of the traditiona­l Omani clothes that adorn the streets of Nizwa during Eid is remarkable. During Eid prayers, people wear their finest new clothes, often choosing traditiona­l Omani attire known for its colourful designs and intricate patterns that showcase Omani culture and heritage.

Wearing the Omani clothes adds an atmosphere of pride and belonging to the national identity, increasing the joy and beauty of the celebratio­ns.

On this day, adults generously give gifts and money to children, bringing smiles of happiness and joy to their faces.

Eid shopping (Habtat al Eid) is one of the prominent aspects of Eid, especially for toys and gifts eagerly awaited by children. Eid shopping occurs in various locations throughout the wilayat, such as bustling markets, picturesqu­e valleys, and lively parks, creating a lively atmosphere for the festive occasion.

Sellers sell various products suitable for children, such as toys, balloons, popular Omani food, sweets among others.

During Habtat al Eid, there are performanc­es of Al Razha art, horse riding, games, and a theater hosting events and competitio­ns.

Families gather for barbecue and traditiona­l oven activities (Tanour), cooking meat, and sharing delicious dishes, which reflect the folk character and ancient traditions of the society.

Eid celebratio­ns in Nizwa reflect the spirit of harmony and cohesion among community members, embodying the values of happiness that this happy occasion represents.
